Frequently asked questions by parents
Coronavirus measurments
What precautions does The Nanny Club take against the coronavirus?
What is my responsibility as a parent during the corona crisis?
We are currently living in a special time because of COVID-19. In order to make babysitting as safe as possible, we would like to ask the parent to carefully read the guidelines of the RIVM, GGD and the governmental reports on COVID-19. It is important that everyone in this situation bears his or her own responsibility and should assess any additional risks. Make clear agreements about this with the Nanny prior to the start of the babysitting contract. The Nanny Club bears no responsibility whatsoever for the babysitting agreement made by the parent and the Nanny together. Possible consequences of this, such as infecting someone else or irresponsibly handling the Corona Measures, are for the risk and account of the parent and Nanny themselves.
Selection process of the nannies
What does the nannies selection process look like?
Reliability and professionalism are highly valued at The Nanny Club. Before our Nannies start working with us they are extensively screened at one of our screening locations. During this interview, relevant work and babysitting experience is tested and discussed. Babysitting experience is mandatory, the Nanny must provide two references. Extra attention is paid to experience with children under the age of two. All Nannies follow at least an HBO/WO level education and are required to follow a first aid course at The Nanny Club.
Do you really screen all the nannies?
Yes, all of our Nannies are actually screened before they can work with us. It is very important to us that we provide the best service possible, which is why all of our Nannies go through a mandatory screening process. We personally screen each nanny at one of our screening locations before the nanny becomes a member of The Nanny Club. During the screening the (study) background and babysitting experience are discussed among other things. Babysitting experience is mandatory and the references the nanny provides will be checked carefully. We also ask for a certificate of good conduct and it is obligatory to be in possession of a first aid certificate for babies and children. Besides that the nanny also follows relevant workshops which are organized by The Nanny Club Academy. This way the nanny stays up to date of the latest developments and trends and can be even more confident about her job.

What kind of babysitting services do you offer?
We offer different types of babysitting services, namely:
- Part-time Nanny → for when you can use some extra hands a few days a week, but don’t want a different Nanny every time.
- Fulltime Nanny → when you need a caring and very experienced Nanny who helps you fulltime with your family.
- Night Nanny → for when you need a good night’s sleep. The Nanny makes sure your child gets a good night’s sleep so you both can start the day fresh.
- Last Minute Nanny → for when you feel like taking a last minute break, but want to be sure that your children are in good hands.
- Event Nanny → for when you want to enjoy a carefree party, but want to be sure that your children are having a good time.
- Travel Nanny → for when you want to enjoy your vacations a little bit more. The Nanny ensures that your children are not bored and you as a parent can relax.
We are looking for a Nanny on a flexible basis. Is this possible?
My child needs to be picked up from school on several days, what do you recommend? (Part time or last minute)
We recommend the part-time Nanny for after-school care because you want to be sure that your nanny is available on regular days. With the last minute nanny you can’t be sure that someone is there and it is often not the same Nanny. This offers a lot of turmoil for your children. The last minute Nanny is really more for the occasional afternoon or evening.
We are looking for a Nanny for just in the morning. Is this possible?
What should we do if a Nanny is liable for damages during the babysitting appointment?
On average, how long does a Nanny stay with a family?
Some of our Nannies are HBO or WO students, their availability depends on the study schedule. On average the Nannies stay with a family for a year or more, but the Nannies are required to assist a family for at least three months. Of course we do our best to ensure as much peace of mind as possible.

Payments
What are the costs to The Nanny Club?
Why do I pay for both the babysitter and your service?
You pay The Nanny Club a monthly fee if you have a regular nanny. But why do you only pay monthly if you have a regular Nanny with The Nanny Club? That’s because it is very difficult to find a nice Nanny who can actually work on the days you need a Nanny. And someone who can also stay for several months so you do not have too many changing faces for your children. Someone who truly loves children, helps them develop, has fun with them and makes them feel safe.
Are The Nanny Club's babysitting services eligible for Childcare Allowance?
No, childcare benefits cannot be applied for on the services of The Nanny Club. The Nannies at The Nanny Club work through the ‘Service at home scheme’ regulation. The rules concerning the Service at Home Scheme:
- You do babysitting work in and around the house
- You are a private person (you are not a company) and you do work for a private person
- You work less than four days a week for a private babysitter family
- Note: it does not matter how many hours you work per day. Two hours per day also counts as a day worked. You may have more than one family, but must meet the above conditions
- The Nannies have to report their income to the tax authorities
Do I pay the Nanny even if I get home early from work or an appointment?
Are we required to pay the Nanny a certain number of hours?
Cancellation of babysitting services
Is there a time requirement to cancel a babysitting service?
Yes there is. These can be found in the Terms and Conditions. The babysitting service can only be cancelled by cancelling the booking via The Nanny Club, by email and/or by telephone.
Cancellation of the babysitting service booked is free of charge up to 24 hours before the babysitting service starts, for instance to choose another period or babysitter or to renounce the booking completely.
If you wish to cancel within 24 hours up to 3 hours before the start of the booked babysitting service, The Nanny Club will charge a cancellation fee.
If you wish to cancel within 3 hours up to 1 hour before the start of the booked service, then The Nanny Club will charge the user on behalf of the sitter an amount equal to 1 hour of the hourly rate for the first hour of the babysitting service, plus the cancellation costs of The Nanny Club.
The Nanny Agreement can be terminated earlier during the duration of the service. The Nanny Club will charge the parent for at least 2 hours plus transaction costs on behalf of the sitter. The user can consult with The Nanny Club when there is a compelling reason. The Nanny Club will determine if there is a compelling reason and possibly decide to refund the cancellation fee (or part thereof).
What should we do if the Nanny is sick or on vacation?
Do you arrange for replacements when a Nanny can no longer do so?
